J Brand launches a collection with Henry Duarte

J Brand is on a roll with collaborations these days. The premium denim label, which recently partnered with London designer Hussein Chalayan on a capsule collection of dark-and-lovely jeans, is at it again -- this time teaming up with rock-inspired designer Henry Duarte.

The two L.A.-based brands have collaborated on a three-piece jeans collection inspired by the seminal David Bowie album, "Ziggy Stardust." The three styles of jeans are all super-skinny, featuring a 10-inch leg opening: There's the Raygun, a skinny with exposed zippers; the Ziggy, a low-rise black-toned skinny; and the Sufragette (get it? "Suffragette City") another low-rise skinny with lace-up detailing at the waist and ankles.

The "Ziggy Stardust" inspiration is clearly on an esoteric plane, as Bowie's spacey alter-ego was perennially dressed in glittery slacks. But the designers -- Duarte, along with Susie Crippen and Jeff Rudes from J Brand -- did evoke the character's super-skinny, punky swagger.

Duarte -- a musician himself -- is famous for his slinky, rocker-inspired low-rise trousers -- and J Brand has definitely been mining that territory lately, pioneering the legging jean (the tightest and least forgiving of all jeans styles) and launching a numerous all-black styles.

Ready to get your slink on? The J Brand/Duarte collection, which will be priced about $250 a pair, is slated to launch in December at fashion-forward department stores and boutiques including Barneys New York, Bergdorf Goodman, Intermix and Ron Herman.
