Maybelline must be aware of the lipstick index theory since the New York cosmetic company is launching its $7.49 Color Sensational lipsticks with a series of events at Hollywood & Highland and CVS in Santa Monica.
Coined by Leonard Lauder, chairman emeritus of Estee Lauder, the lipstick index theory holds that during years of economic distress, women will forgo spending on luxury goods but still splurge on a relatively inexpensive lip color.
Maybelline’s Color Sensational creamy high-resolution lip color comes in 48 crisp shades grouped in reds, pinks, plums and naturals.
