Three dots

Designer Pegan Anvarian made her mark on L.A.'s fashion landscape with her eponymous jersey-based collection, which launched in 2003. She recently shuttered the line, but has picked up where she left off as the new creative director for Three Dots -- another jersey-heavy brand famous for its super-soft T-shirts.

We caught up with the Texas-bred designer to chat about her newest endeavor:

Where do you hope to take the brand's aesthetics going forward?

I want to make it look designer [but have] contemporary price points.

What are some of key looks from the fall collection?

Definitely the sculpted tee -- it's a super-soft T-shirt with quilted shoulder pad details. Despite what some might think, the strong shoulder is extremely flattering.

There is also a milano jersey jumpsuit that I really loved. The look was fluid, but the material provided just the right amount of structure. And the best thing is that it is just so comfortable!

What can we expect for spring 2010?

Knit blazers and vests made from our 1x1 cotton, then fused to create a structured look that feels incredibly soft.

What are the challenges of designing for a jersey-based line?

The biggest challenge is constantly coming up with new things. We have new pieces [that debut] each and every month. We are constantly racking our brains to come up with new pieces for every delivery.

What are you most excited about when it comes to designing for Three Dots?

The freedom of creativity. My team and I have the ability to really let our imaginations run wild here.

L.A. has such a T-shirt culture -- what's the hippest way to wear a T-shirt these days?

Loose and rugged.
