Beyonce launches a 'Sasha Fierce' clothing line
When Beyoncé released "I Am …Sasha Fierce" last year, the double album received a lot of attention, not all of it good. Times pop music critic Ann Powers focused on her alter ego and found Beyoncé’s explanation, via press release, somewhat confusing.
"Sasha Fierce," Beyoncé announced, is "the party girl…she is but I’m not. She’s my alter ego. I’m finally revealing who I am."
Powers observed: "For Beyoncé to say that an identity she is not is ‘revealing who I am’ is a contradiction." And, Powers continued, "Her misplaced worries about authenticity cause Beyoncé to make some unfortunate missteps (mostly into the puddle of excess) that often affect artists in mid-career."
Nonetheless, for all of us who have heard "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" so many times it feels like elevator music, the Sasha Fierce thing is working out pretty well for Beyoncé.
And now we have Sasha Fierce, the clothing line. Women’s Wear Daily is reporting that Beyoncé and her mother, Tina Knowles, plan to launch a new junior apparel label, Sasha Fierce for Deréon….just in time for... back to school.
Mothers of teenage girls will undoubtedly be more than thrilled to see tight (fake) leather jackets, bodysuits and "destructed jeans with mesh and lace details lining the ripped material."
The collection, Women’s Wear reported, was "inspired by Beyoncé’s stage presence" and includes sportswear, outwear, handbags, footwear, eyewear and jewelry. And did we mention lingerie?
The line has been picked up by Macy’s, among other stores.

If she wants to do a school line, develop a line of fashionable uniform clothing. More and more kids can't wear that other stuff to school.

what a loon! and how disturbing that yet another Madonna, Britney copycat has put out yet again another TRASHY clothes line .. and for school? hahaha surely the writer jests, yes? Beyonce and her mother get ZERO respect from this mom who had enough of the Britney years to fill several lifetimes ... what a shame you couldnt promote HEALTHY SELF VIEWPOINTs for young women, B & mother ... this "Sasha" image is not only NON-original, but contradictory to her own words (a bit worried on how the "new" image will be received, are we Beyonce?)
This image is nothing but rehashed TRASH as well as another moneygrabbing idea -- again, a copied one at that. You lost any true artistic heart, B. What a bunch of garbage your music and now fashion became. Sad. You could have made such a diference in the world for so many. It is like Beyonce et al do not care about the hearts of her fans. Well ... so much for "change" -- "nothing new under the sun"

Beyonce - like MADONNA = ANYTHING FOR MONEY !
We don't care if we "corrupt" schoolkids !
I want a New Bel-Air Mansion, with lots of luxuries !
yeah.............and the 'beat goes on'.
A tiresome beat, at that !

Fascinating. It is always fascinating to see this. 80% of the time- in casual polls taken by E! or People, Beyonce always gets low marks for her own fashion style- as judged by the public. That bride thing that she had on at the BET awards- it was sexist in the very least, and ugly all over. I hope Macy's didn't buy in too deep- especially with the economic times-

How many times have we seen clothes like these going down a runway. What a cliche. If she had any kind of talent, she would have incorporated other colors in the material of her clothes. She needs to just stick to music.

Why is the LA Times giving free publicity to a private enterprise? Do you know how many struggling, talented real designers exist in LA that don't get this kind of attention? This woman is not a fashion designer- that's a full time job that takes talent, education and dedication. This is Beyonce tacking her name onto some chincy manufacturing group who will present her with a couple of tacky sketches that she will glance at between choreography numbers, and either approve or raise the hemline of, and then and collect a check. This is just a licensing agreement to add to the 80 million she already made last year. Why doesn't she make the news by announcing she will donate money for needy kids school clothes? That would be something for the LA Times to report.

Beyonce is an amazing singer and has so much talent. She isn't trying to put something new out on the runway, she's creating a line of clothes inspired by her album. I personally like the clothes and love beyonce.

Beyonce' doesn't where her own clothing line. When she's photographed out in public it Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabana etc. Her line doesn't compare to the clothes in her closet. It upsets me when I see photos of her and Jennifer Lopez wearing "elite clothing" but their clothing line is sub-below.

Beyonce is cool and all, and a good entertainer but seriously no one is REALLY honestly checkin for her like that. Her style is okay but really only for her. And her narcisstic egotistic need to try to make the masses buy into her crap is like, really, give it a rest. Focus less on clothing and exterior and lets make better quality music Beyonce...thanks...
