Space 15Twenty gets Generic Man shoe store, opens women's counterpart
Brandon Day and Kevin Carney, the men behind the 3-year-old Generic Man footwear collection, have turned their attention to the other side of the gender divide and on Sunday debuted a new women's collection at a temporary boutique in Space 15Twenty.
The line is based on classic men's footwear styles but rendered sleek and feminine, with looks that include gray suede and patent leather brogues ($330) and a brown leather tuxedo shoe lace-up with a folded stripe ($355). A sensible shoe called the Academy resembles the school uniform footwear of yesteryear, with a toecap and gum rubber sole ($295).
The boutique, which will be open for a month, will also carry the Generic Man fall/winter collection, featuring new styles such as chukka boots in two-tone leather and gum soles ($285) and a tassel-embellished lace-up ($360).
Also available is the affordable Generic Surplus collection (co-produced with Urban Outfitters), which showcases $58 canvas plimsolls, $72 suede wingtip sneaks and $79 moccasin-style suede high-tops.
