Kate Hudson’s new tresses

Kate Hudson’s blond hair has become her signature, much like her mom’s mirror image golden locks and megawatt smile. But Hudson recently turned to the dark side, going a warm shade of brown for an upcoming movie role.

Celebrity colorist Negin Zand of Sally Hershberger Los Angeles gave Hudson her new dark hair. She shares with us how to get a similar shade and maintain it.

“To get the look, ask your colorist for filler, followed by a single process with a semi-permanent hair color,” says Zand. To maintain it, use a color-depositing shampoo such as L’Oreal ARTec Walnut Shampoo once a week and rinse with bottled water in the shower. Spritz hair with Rene Furterer Fioravanti No Rinse Detangling Spray and shampoo every other day to avoid fading.

She adds that Hudson’s new shade looks great on all skin tones, but for the really fair, stick with a lighter golden-brown color.
