Bearded & Tschorn: My (not-so) perfect pictures of pogonophilia

I snapped a ton of photos while I was in Alaska covering the 2009 World Beard and Moustache Championships. Most of them were ‘memory joggers’ to help me recall the highlights of the nearly 300 competitors and three times as many spectators and supporters who poured into Anchorage for four days of facial hair fun.
But when I settled into my seat, flipped open my laptop and started going through my pictures as I waited to depart Ted Stevens International Airport, a funny thing happened. People started clustering around my computer screen to get a look at the pixels I’d snapped in my pursuit of the hirsute. So I’m going to throw up a web gallery. The photos are far from perfect, but they’ll give you a taste of what was happening behind the scenes and away from the portrait photo booths, and possibly keep you entertained until the fantastic shots freelance photographer Michael Dinneen took of the competition itself are uploaded.
And full, complete results of the 2009 WBMC and ‘medal count’ by country will be posted soon.
