While dining at Harbour this evening — a restaurant that opened just last week in New York — I couldn’t help but notice general manager Thierry Sighel’s interesting accessories.

Sighel wore a navy blue Nautica bow tie with orange sailboats on it and to compliment the orange detail, he kept an orange carrot pen in his pocket.

“For my green bow tie I have an asparagus and pickle pen, for a yellow tie I have a banana pen.” He says. The produce pens are even more interesting than a pocket square and they are sure to spark intrigue.

“I like these pens because they are great ice breakers and I can start a nice conversation with customers,” says Sighel. He scours magic and trick stores for the fruit and veggie pens, but some — like the carrot pen — were given to him by regular customers who admire his way of accessorizing. The matching pen-bow tie combo have become his signature — and isn’t having a memorable signature style what it’s all about?
