In a season when flourescent color is passing for luxury, Consuelo Castiglioni’s Marni collection was a sparkling, metallic delight.

Dispensing with the tricky volumes and pleats that can make her clothes intimidating, she focused instead on simple shapes in richly, embellished fabrics with the occasional sporty touch.

More was more, as Swarovski crystals sparkled from the sleeves of oversized pea coats and fur mixed with fabric on jackets with zippered pockets. Sack dresses in gilded wallpaper florals were accessorized with metallic checked tights, snakeskin sandals and colorful sunglasses.

Belted, low-slung miniskirts and tapered, colorblocked navy and gray pants were awfully cool, worn with a sparkly black popcorn knit sweater, or a geometric jacquard tunic glinting with metallic thread -- jewelry for the body.

There was also real jewelry, lots of it -- extraordinary bib necklaces with gold-dipped flowers and flakes of emerald and amethyst.

They’ll cost a pretty penny, but the J. Crew versions should be pretty nice too.
