NYFW: Carlos Campos runway video

New York Fashion Week: Carlos Campos Runway Show from Adam Tschorn on Vimeo.

NEW YORK -- Since the European men's shows last month, I've gotten a little better at balancing the video camera on my knee and jotting down notes at the same time. Tonight, I was in a pretty good spot at Carlos Campos' Fall 2009 men's/women's runway show (the men's-wear designer branched into women's just last season), and thought I'd share the results.

"There is no doubt that there is something sexy about a person in uniform," the designer said in his show notes. And Campos used that idea of the uniform -- and the secrets such clothes hide -- as the jumping-off point for a collection that touched on priest garb (the white clerical collar strips formed into crosses), sado-masochist wear (lots and lots of leather strips), military uniforms (epaulets) and a gray, striped blouse-and-shorts combo that looked like a men's business suit repurposed as lingerie.
