Shopping: Barack Obama inaugural merch

Barack Obama inaugural merchandise I will never forget when I went to the second Clinton inaugural in 1997 how much merch there was on the streets.  Despite the frigid weather, you couldn’t help but want to browse the vendors’ pins, T-shirts and light-up antenna-ball headbands. For some unknown reason, a baseball cap in a regal shade of purple became the must-have, sold out from corner to corner. My sister was able to score one, but alas I was not.

The official Obama Inaugural Collectibles store is now online. There aren’t too many surprises (fleeces, baby tees, onesies).  Being a basketball fan, I am partial to the navy jersey emblazoned with “Obama” and “44” in bright red (see left). Barack Obama inaugural merchandise The “chocolate mélange” colored tee with ringer collar imprinted with Obama’s silhouette and the words “One Nation Obama” (see right) is pretty great too. Check them out for yourself here

I would buy every single item here if I could, hoping-against-hope that I have not raised the bar too high for the Obama Team. One thing's certain: I can't afford to purchase even one item here until the Obama Team reaches out in real support for every citizen--and it shall!

Inaugural merch is everywhere and there's some extremely clever and artistic stuff on the web. Tooting my own horn, just for an example, with these cool hoodies, t shirts, mugs and all that jazz.

How tacky! It's just as bad as wearing a Bush-Chenet t-shirt.

I am curious how many will want to be seen in public wearing the swag if the administration flounders, the economy continues to fail, taxes rise, "global climate change" (or whatever it's been changed to this week to mask its sillyness) is proven a myth, our troops are still in Iraq or Afghanistan twelve months from now, or if we're hit by a terrorist attack.
