Cheap Monday looks forward to WKND and new pop-up store in Chinatown

January 7, 2009 |  4:30 pm

1picture2_2 Swedish brand Cheap Monday is launching a new line of men's and 1picture1 women's casual street wear called WKND by Cheap Monday for spring 2009. But don’t be fooled by the name, this WKND was not inspired by relaxation. Natural disasters including typhoons, flooding and earthquakes are what informed designer Peter Jansson’s creative choices for the new line. Baggy tops, leggings and bat-wing sleeve jackets are screened with images of typhoons and hurricanes.

WKND launches Feb. 14 at the Cheap Monday and WKND pop-up store, which will be housed at downtown boutique Choose Chinatown, through the fall '09 season.

The inspiration for the line may not be light and happy, but the prices will make you smile. Like the popular $65 skinny jeans from Cheap Monday, WKND prices range from $65 for cotton poplin trousers to $90 for fleece sweat shirts.

Choose Chinatown: 441 Gin Ling Way, Los Angeles, CA 90012, (213) 613-9200
