On the heels of our observation that the peace symbol is winding down its 50th year in existence as the unofficial tree topper of the holiday season, the symbol of the ‘60s peace movement continues to bloom at retail. National Geographic, which earlier this year published Ken Kolsbun and Michael S. Sweeney’s ‘Peace: The Biography of a Symbol’ has partnered with Delia’s to sell a hoodie and three T-shirt designs ($26.50 to $48.50), with net proceeds supporting the society’s exploration, conservation, research and education programs. They can be found online and at select Delia’s stores.
Closer to home, Tarina Tarantino will kick off the new year by adding some more peace pieces to her ‘Peace, Love and Sparkle’ collection of ‘60s counterculture meets Hello Kitty pink trinket collection. The new pieces will be available Jan. 1 at her 7957 Melrose Ave. boutique.
