Space NK Apothecary comes to Century City

November 24, 2008 | 12:58 pm

There's nothing more luxurious and tempting than a beautiful space filled with a well-edited selection of hard-to-find beauty products. OK, there's probably a few other things, but for those of us who love great product, it dosen’t get much better than London-based retailer Space NK Apothecary

The items at Space NK are now accessible to California residents -- four shop-in shops opened in Bloomingdales in Newport Beach, South Coast Plaza, San Francisco and at the Century City mall last week.

Creator Nicky Kinnaird was inspired to open Space NK in 1993 when she couldn't find a good selection of products that fell between drug store and department store.  She set out to model Space NK after that of a multi-label fashion boutique in Italy. Kinnaird now stocks the shelves with brands she finds while traveling -- and Kinnaird is always searching for the best and most effective products available. The store currently carries cult favorites such as Eve Lom, Chantecaille, John Masters, Belle Fleur candles and products from the Space NK line including, men’s and women’s fragrances, hand cream, candles and bath tablets. And of course, favorites such as Nars, Frederick Fekkai and Jurlique. It’s a product lovers dream come true -- a mix of luxurious brands, hard-to-find items and lines you’ve never seen before.

It's like an old-time apothecary, but only prettier, brighter and without the foul medicine.
