NEW YORK -- A skyline of mirrors on the runway, George Gershwin’s ‘Rhapsody In Blue’ on the sound system, and Victoria Beckham, JLo and Nicole Richie in the front row.

It must be Marc Jacobs, starting on time for a second season in a row. The collection was an ode to the globe-trotting avant-garde -- Peggy Guggenheim meets Eliza Doolittle, with mid-calf length skirts in sumptuous metallic plaids and flowered foils, jackets with razor-sharp shoulders cinched with fabric sashes, modernist necklaces, and flat-topped straw hats that looked like they could have been snatched from Minnie Pearl’s costume chest. A feast for the eyes.
