The red carpet is a snooze. Who really needs to see another starlet in a Maxi dress and gladiator sandals? The looks of Lollapalooza this year in Chicago were so much more creative and thoughtful. I don’t know about you, but I got most of my style inspiration from musicians when I was growing up. Let’s take a look at what rocked this year:

Duffy, left, went with a nautical-themed romper and matching red earrings and nails. The white belt is slightly misguided, as her onesie is fitted enough. I forgive her though.

Nicole Atkins, right, woke up and said to herself, ‘I don’t give a crap if it’s August. I am wearing black tights with my mini dress and that’s that.’

Katie White of The Ting Tings, right, called Atkins and said, ‘I’m wearing my red tights and bringing a carton of Marlboro reds.’

Cat Power, left, didn’t try that hard and I think that’s just fine. I love her ‘People Have the Power’ off-the-shoulder tee, which is an homage to Patti Smith.
