Fashion rocks: Bananarama and pegged jeans

Thanks to Bananarama, I failed chemistry. Why? I spent way too many hours in high school trying to figure55432127 out how to peg my jeans like they did for this "Cruel Summer" video. I studied it. But no matter how many times I rolled my jean cuffs up, the effect was farmer's pregnant teen daughter.

Lately, Katie Holmes and Amanda Peet have been experimenting with the look -- which the style world has deemed "the boyfriend jean." Well, guess what? If you walk around wearing these jeans, you had better already have a boyfriend. They're not very flattering if you're not a size 2. If you're ambitious though, study this video. Oh and my colleague, Emili Vesilind, wrote a nifty treatise in the paper on how to peg your own jeans.

(On a side note, I love how the Bananarama group wears matching matte red lipstick and they all have that crazy, teased hair.  Check out the goofy choreography and nonsensical plot too. When Boss Hogg shows up in a New York police car, it becomes "The Dukes of Hazzard" meets "Charlie's Angels." Now, that's a mash-up.)
