Kobe Bryant gets his nails done before big game

June 12, 2008 |  7:25 am

Kobe_cradles_the_rock1 Kobe Bryant knows how to psych out the Celtics. Show up with the buffest fingernails and nary a stray cuticle in sight. Us magazine reports that the Laker had his dribbling digits and toes manicured in Boston in his hotel room between games 1 and 2. The technician says that Bryant was "really concerned about the appearance of his hands and feet." That detail tells us nothing. Did he hound her  to file down the ridges? Did he request rounded or square tips? Apparently, Kobe gets mani-pedis before most games.

(In this picture, he's saying: "Watch the nails!")

But Bryant isn't the only athlete in touch with his feminine side. New York Yankee Tony Womack and David Beckham get regular nail treatments and Houston Rocket Dikembe Mutombo even co-owns the Nseya Salon & Spa in Atlanta.

The Rage would love to see a French manicure on Bryant.

Monica, I am a bit taken back by your cliched notion that good grooming is only for feminine types. Women think nothing of ridiculing men who get manicures or pedicures, but this is the same group that says men should not walk around in flip-flops because their feet are so unkempt! Why not encourage the idea that good grooming is gender-free and appreciated by all?

Kobe does it so he doesn't leave fingernail/toenail marks when he commits alleged sexual assault.

This story is confirmed by a friend of mine who saw kobe getting his nails done in newport last offseason.

Melanie, your comment is hilarious.

So why not? Nails? Kobe got his face slashed by Sac Kings and so did Odom - on his head. one would understand that this is a good idea - getting ones nails done in order to prevent slashes requiring stitches - which can happen easily in sports etc. How utterly 'mickey mouse' the concept of what ever it was - 'disdainful' my guess, that was reported.
And yeah - the - Lakers can win - with some blocking support from the team for Kobe when he has the ball instead of just hanging out and looking! YES miraculously - In the courageous mind set -the team can WIN.... without individual fear of fouls - just lots of blocking!!!! GO LAKERS! MIRACLE GUYS!!! SMA!

Melanie's comments are not hilarious but immature as sexual assault is very serious.
