Doc Rivers' sweaty, stained shirt fetches $55,000

Capt18e3fd88d7eed4eb3b2b3180b1cbcca This just in: Celtics coach Doc Rivers donated his final game dress shirt to a charity auction and some poor sap bid $55,000 on it. The custom-made white ECC Life & Style cotton shirt with mother of pearl buttons was badly stained with pink Gatorade (maybe fruit punch flavor?) and also signed by Rivers and Celtics star Paul Pierce.

(Oh, and the Gatorade bucket came with it. That's probably how this guy explained his impulse purchase to his wife.)

The proceeds benefit the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation.

Thanks for the post! Point of clarification the Mother of Pearl buttons are not faux, but genuine.

Thanks,

I don't think he's a 'poor sap' for donating $55,000 to charity. But, you certainly are a rude and obnoxious journalist for refering to the buyer in that way. No wonder your profession is currently held in such low esteem.

"Poor Sap" ?
The money goes to charity so what is the problem?
Who knows if a man or women put in the money for the
shirt. Nice sexism!!!
Anyone who has 55k to drop on a shirt doesn't need to
explain it to anyone. It's probally a tax write off.
Find a better angle to write about this issue you poor sap.

i agree, its charity, the shirt is signed if he wanted to i'm sure some Boston fan would probably pay $200K for it.
