Devoted Yankees fan Freddy Schuman dies at 85

SchumanFreddy Schuman, the fan known as "Freddy Sez" who banged a spoon against a skillet at Yankee Stadium for more than two decades, has died. He was 85.

Schuman died Sunday at Lenox Hill Hospital, the Yankees announced. No cause was given.

The Yankees said some of his memorabilia will become part of a display at the team's museum.

The Yankees held a moment of silence for Schuman before Game 3 of the American League Championship Series against the Texas Rangers. Fans chanted "Fred-dy! Fred-dy!"

Schuman had attended Yankees game since 1988, gaining attention for his signs that began "Freddy Sez."
