Producer Steven Reuther dies at 58

Steven Reuther, a producer whose credits include “Pretty Woman,” “Dirty Dancing” and “The Ugly Truth,” died Saturday of cancer at his home in Santa Monica, his family said. He was 58.

He was an executive producer on 1987’s “Dirty Dancing,” and along with the 1990 smash “Pretty Woman,” Reuther produced such films as “The Client,” “Face/Off,” “The Rainmaker” and “Pay It Forward.”

Reuther started in the mail room at the William Morris talent agency in the late 1970s. Among his many studio positions was as president and chief executive of Douglas/Reuther Productions which teamed him with Michael Douglas.
