Mark Ferber’s institutional knowledge at the Hollywood Bowl stretched back to 1964, when he was hired at 14 as an errand runner.

So he was uniquely positioned to comment on country singer Garth Brooks selling out the Hollywood Bowl in 21 minutes in 1994.

“I can’t remember, since the Beatles, a longer box office line than this morning for Garth Brooks,” Ferber said at the time. “It was really impressive to see.” (The Beatles played the Bowl in 1964 and 1965.)

Ferber, 60, was the Bowl’s production supervisor and special events manager when he died March 14 after a fall.
