Charmette Bonpua to be memorialized in Sacramento and L.A.

Charmette Bonpua, 44, L.A. Councilman Herb Wesson’s chief of staff who died Feb. 14 after suffering an aneurysm, will be honored in the coming days in Sacramento and Los Angeles.

A public viewing is planned for Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Klumpp Funeral Home, 2691 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento.

At noon Monday she will be honored at the state Capitol by Wesson and Assembly Speaker Karen Bass, with a reception to follow from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.

A celebration of Bonpua’s life is scheduled for Feb. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. in the third-floor rotunda at Los Angeles City Hall.

Instead of flowers, donations may be made to the Charmette Bonpua Memorial Fund, Office of Councilman Herb Wesson, c/o Trudie Abraham, 200 N. Spring St., Room 430, Los Angeles, CA 90012.

Donations can also be sent to a Sacramento address at the Assembly Committee on Water, Parks and Wildlife, c/o Kathy Matsumoto, 1020 N St., Suite 160, Sacramento, CA 95814.
