Sol Price, warehouse marketing pioneer, dies

Sol Price, a pioneer in warehouse marketing and founder of PriceSmart Inc., has died. He was 93.

PriceSmart announced that the entrepreneur died this morning in San Diego. Price founded Price Club in the 1970s and left the company after it merged with Costco Wholesale Corp. in 1993.

He founded San Diego-based PriceSmart with his son, Robert. The company operates warehouse clubs in Central America and the Caribbean.
