Michael Jackson: No plans to tour with Jackson 5

Jackson_200 If this morning brought the surprising news of a full-on Beatles-themed video game, this afternoon gave the world the least-shocking music news of the week.

Michael Jackson will not reunite and tour with the Jackson 5.

A statement published late afternoon/early evening from Scoop Marketing reads as follows:

My brothers and sisters have my full love and support, and we've certainly shared many great experiences, but at this time I have no plans to record or tour with them. I am now in the studio developing new and exciting projects that I look forward to sharing with my fans in concert soon.

To recap: Rumors of a Jackson 5 reunion took off earlier this week after brother Jermaine Jackson told reporters in Australia that the famed soul act would be going on the road in 2009, with Michael among the mix. Jermaine was quoted as saying, "This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together. Of course, the original Jackson 5... Michael, Randy and the whole family... we're in the studio."

Rumors surrounding the appearance of Michael are an annual event in the music world. Last year's Grammy Awards on CBS went so far as to tip a Michael appearance in television commercials, but it wasn't to be. A new album from
